Prompt #23 for the 2024 "Pinuptober" drawing challenge was warrior, #24 was lace, and #26 was myth. I combined these prompts for this drawing.
The Morrigan is a complex and multifaceted goddess from Celtic mythology. She is a shapeshifter who can take many forms. She also has the power of prophecy and is able to see into the future. She can heal wounds and empower warriors in battle. She's a guide to the departed, navigating the space between life and death. She can even sprout dark wings and take flight!
She is associated with war, death, fertility, and cycles of life and death. She's a prominent deity in the celebration of Samhain which marks the beginning of a new year. She's been depicted as a single goddess as well as a triple goddess.
The Morrigan is among the most powerful of the Celtic goddesses. She's not necessarily either good or evil but she's certainly a badass deity!
