August 2024 Artventures

Let's take a look back at the art we created in August!

Do you have a month out of the year where there are just a ton of people in your circle that have birthdays? That's me in August. It's also back to school season here in my area. It's been a busy, busy month!

I created a lot of things that I didn't share on social media and spent a lot of time catching up on administrative stuff. All of that being said, here's some things I worked on this past month.

A symmetrical design colored in vibrant colors, looks like stained glass rocks

First up, here is how I colored my free page for the month of August. You can get the free page here.

I create a free symmetry page each month and post it on my blogs section.

I love seeing everyone's completed creations so please tag me on social media so I can see yours!

If you're not sure how or where to start with coloring something like this I've included a short reel from my Instagram that covers my process for coloring pieces. I hope it helps give you a starting point!

Symmetrical line art design

If you're ready to jump in and color, September's free page is already available. You can get it here.

I have run out of pieces that didn't make it into my books, that I think are quality enough to share, so I'm now drawing each month's page.

I haven't had a chance to color it yet, but I'm excited to because love the linework.

In addition to this I'm working on a number of symmetry projects that aren't ready to share yet but I have a lot of sketches and lined pieces ready to share soon. (:

I also colored some more pages out of my symmetry coloring books. You can check those out and more in album on my Facebook page called heART Scapes.

I spent some time this past month turning older drawings into emotes for my friends on Twitch. I also created a brand new emote for one of my friends during a live stream.

So first up are the old drawings into emotes. These were all created during spooky season last year. Each of my Gnomies got to pick a costume and made them into a fun character. The Elvira one was for me and Pickled Goat Queen, Queen of Hearts, and Hellbounderine were for fellow streamers.

I also created one new character for a friend for a Twitch emote. Introducing... the sentient beard. lol. Cousin That if you prefer. This one was silly fun.

An anthropomorphized beard creature with a skull belt.

As I said, I drew this live during a stream. Come say hi sometime if you can! Viewers often get to give input or prompts on what I draw. I'd love to see you in chat! Twitch.tv/hr_johnson.

I also completed two art challenges this month and they could not be more different! One is a flowery, colorful Fae and the other is a tortured demonic. From one extreme to another...

I especially got into the second one. I've been feeling some dark feelings lately. I've worked hard on a number of projects that didn't go anywhere or get any reception. It's tough to keep putting yourself out there when you don't feel like you're getting results.

By the way, these two pieces and a bunch more are now available as prints! A lot of new pieces have been added to the shop if you're looking to support and add some cool new art to your collection!

Finally, here are a few screen shots of practice pieces that are in various stages of completion. I haven't shared these on social media yet, so you get to see some stuff that no one else has seen.

My own birthday is in just a few days, so I am running a giveaway! Check out this blog for for all the ways you can get entries to win free art things.

Big thanks to anyone that's read all the way through! I genuinely appreciate you spending some of your time checking in on what I've been up to.

Please leave me a like or a comment so that I know you were here and to help all the algorithm things realize I exist. Also, I'd just love to hear your thoughts on any of the art or words I've shared.

Thanks again for reading.

See you around the Internetlands soon!
